PROJECTS WE SUPPORT

The main activities of the Foundation are all focused on the environment and its protection, the improvement of health and safety conditions, the development and promotion of education.

Environment projects

La Veranera Plantation

Objective

In compliance with the environmental management plan for the construction of the coking plant and the emissions generated in the process of coking of the facilities where the plant operates.

Issue

The area has always being arid before it was industrialized by the coking industry. Thinking in the benefit of the communities in the area, The Bulk Caring Foundation will carry out an environmental restoration program with a “Plan Semilla Frutos de Marañon”, supported by Corponor, an environmental watchdog monitor company entity in the North Department of Santander.
The project concerns the reforestation of 200 cashew trees per hectare in 15 hectares owned by 15 families in the area which will have, in addition to an environmental impact, also a social impact as it will provide a basic income for the families involved.

Solar panels for the rural school La Vereda San Miguel Encerraderos – Municipality of Sardinata

Objective

The community of San Miguel town in Sardinata needed help with electric network of the school due the food given by government to the children and teenagers, was spoiling because poor electrical energy in the school fridges. Also computers turned off before to finish the classes for the same reason, poor electrical energy.

Issue

As children and adolescents are a vulnerable population and so important for the future of life, it was decided to lead the solar panel project with the support of the Research, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit of the FESC. We have participated together with the Ministry of Science and Technology in the project we call “Social Appropriation of Knowledge”, thus installing panels to generate 3800W of energy, which enable the operation of a small refrigerator, lights and technological equipment.

Cultivation of frailejones in páramos area – Piragua

Objective

Reforestation of frailejones plants in the páramo area near Piragua, a typical perennial plant of the area.

These plants allow to maintain water ecosystem.

Health projects

Juan Luis Londoño Hospital

Objective

Strengthen the provision of health services offered by the hospital, with the donation of biomedical equipment according to one’s needs and in compliance with the minimum conditions of authorization. In total there are 139 devices for the new wing of the hospital.

Issue

Medical care for 29,955 people in the population of the Municipality of Zulia, plus those who come from the neighboring municipalities of Salazar de las Palmas, Arboledas, San Cayetano, Santiago, Sardinata, Tibu, Las Meercedes.

Communal action board Vereda El Mortiño – Municipality of Socha Boyaca

Objective

Water catchment for human consumption for the families of the Verada El Mortiño and the Santa Ana Mine.

Issue

By supplying 500 meters of hose, the connection will be obtained with the point in the Vereda where drinking water for human consumption arrives. With this connection we will benefit 60 families and the one to consume in the Mina Santa Ana project.

Social & Education projects

Urimaco escuela rural

Objective

Construction of two classrooms with capacity for 30 students each and donation of computers to implement a basic computer science program.

COMPLETED

Issue

Currently 85 students attend the school and with the construction of the two new classrooms, another 60 students can enter the primary education programme.
One of the new classrooms will also be used as a computer room for at least 60 students.

Simon Bolivar Departmental Rural Educational Institution – Municipality of Lenguazaque Cundinamarca

Objective

This school is located in Vereda Espinal Carrizal and has 40 boys and girls aged 4 to 13, in kindergarten and primary school courses; where some the facilities have deteriorated over time, putting them at physical and hygienic in its users. The community asks us for help to improve those areas.

Issue

It was verified that the school had a wall that was about to fall in the area where boys and girls play, soccer fields, basketball court and bathrooms were in bad condition. The Bulk Caring Foundation has taken the decision to contribute to the modernization of the facility (football pitches, toilets). The wall, which was in bad condition and dangerous for children, was also rebuilt.

Hammock bridge on the Quebrada La Leche in San Miguel – Municipality of Sardinata

Objective

Many years ago, due to the passage of time and the rains, the hammock bridge that allows the passage of the inhabitants of the area such as adults, children and workers of the area in the mines deteriorated. Carry out the renovation in order to facilitate the transition of the community.

Issue

Starting from our social commitment in the area where we have our La Piragua mine project, we have taken advantage of the program for the improvement and restoration of the hammock bridge over the Quebrada La Leche, managing to do so with the support of the Mayor’s Office metal structure, concrete access ramps and a metal step; realizing that they can pass not only on foot, but also motorized.

Mí Vereda Modelo – Urimaco

Objective

In alliance with the National Army we are supporting the road rehabilitation process in the village of Urimaco.
